The book, 'How successful people think,' John C. Maxwell is illuminating, most definitely. The majority of us would be eager to finish our day-by-day schedule. Yet, here was a man educating us to view thinking in a serious way and put time into it.
I’m still nearing midway through this book and would like to share bits of it so far from what I’ve read. Thinking is always in demand. In any work, an individual who realizes how to think will hold the work. More significant is the 'Why' behind it. The individual who knows 'Why' might reach greater heights. People who develop how to think would rule themselves irrespective of their circumstances. It is a way to change one’s life.
Mentioned below are a few ways to improve the process of thinking:
1. Be open to information
Reading books, reviewing pieces of information, and listening to videos are the way forward. When intrigued, you could make a record of it for yourself. You could place it at your favourite thinking spot. It can be a definite influencer for more quality thoughts.
2. Encircle yourself with great masterminds
Seek individuals who spur and challenge you to improve as a thinker. Act on your awesome thoughts. Encircle yourself with individuals who could assist you with achieving your goals. An illustration – Just as iron hones iron, hone yourself.
3. Assign your own thinking spot
Your own spot to think could help shape thoughts to reality. Form a habit and the process would become easier. Remember not to leave your ideas up in the air, but to capture and record it. Your thinking spot could be anywhere, a park or a car.
4. Act upon your good thoughts – Every thought has an expiry and a short time span. One should follow up on it. Simply begin and with time, gain momentum. Abstain from holding up till you want to achieve a goal. It could never occur. Allow your feelings to assist with making another great idea.
5. Repeat the process of thinking – It’s not enough if you’ve thought of a good idea and put it into practice. An extraordinary thought can't endure forever. One should consistently mine the goldmines. Else, it is like a surfer who is extraordinary just a single time.
The edges of thinking include monetization, solutions to challenges, and creating opportunities. Similarly, as with most exercises, consistency is vital to develop as a thinker. More the practice, better the thinker. It is not an easy goal to do and one must invest time. In your journey to become a great thinker, one must be open to diverse thoughts. It could generate new ideas for the thinker.
